In Encanto, Pepa is one of the three youngsters Alma and Pedro had, along with her brother, Bruno, and her sister, Julieta. Their home got attacked when she was born, and her family involuntarily fled. After her father’s death, a miracle blessed the family with an enchanted house and defense from the raiders.

After five years, Pepa and her two siblings unlocked their magical doors in the house, revealing their powers. Pepa increased their ability to control the weather with her emotions. Furthermore, she needed to figure out how to handle her feelings to avoid hurting people around her.

After getting her gift, Pepa met Félix at some point. He was truly good at helping her quiet down when she felt terrible, making her fall in love with him. Alma quickly acknowledged Félix as her son-in-law, and Pepa married him in the long run.

Pepa and Félix are a couple fixed in balance. Pepa is “overly dramatic, emotional and, for better or inferior, her magical gift is that her emotions regulate the weather. It goes from sunny to rainy, snow to rainbows, and her husband loves it in her.

Pepa designs to reflect “family archetypes that are immediately relatable,” as with the rest of the Madrigal family. During the formation process, Pepa’s gift was to be indestructible, and some artworks presented Pepa as a cigar-chewing biker. Her character would make her daring, and she would also like the extreme sport of motocross, relating her as a wild and free spirit.

However, because her gift was too like Luisa’s strength, it changed to emotion-affected weather (originally going to belong to Julieta). After eliminating this concept, the studio changed Pepa’s personality so that she was pretty sensitive and shaky to balance her husband’s more cheerful and laid-back personality, making them a balanced combination.

Carolina Gaitan, Pepa’s voice entertainer, describes her personality as attractive to her: “I’m somewhat insane too… excessively sensational and once in a while somewhat like a drama queen. In any case, in particular, I believe it’s about weakness. Like, not to be in charge of everything, she’s close to home, and she permits herself to be close to home, and I feel that is exceptionally gorgeous about an individual, about a character.”

Personality Of Pepa

Pepa mutters a mantra repeatedly to calm down.

Defined before as “overly emotional and dramatic,” Pepa is impatient and can get angry quickly, opposing her husband Félix’s more laid-back character and positive spirit. Pepa also sometimes lets her anger get the better of her and often says things she doesn’t mean; however, she occasionally apologizes.

When Pepa gets very nervous, she quickly strokes her braid and repeatedly mumbles, “Clear skies, clear skies!” to help her regulate her feelings and, in this way, her climate. Mirabel says the temperature “gets strange” when she’s unhappy. Dissimilar to her created sister or modest sibling, Pepa is more cordial and happy than them, making it challenging for her to stand by.

She has successive mood swings, going from being happy to angry or inversely in a moment that modifies the weather around her. Pepa can get very nervous, stressed, and sometimes even neurotic rapidly. Her emotions sometimes control her more than she can, resulting in chaotic weather conditions.

Much of Pepa’s stress is because she has to control her temper daily to prevent bad weather and avoid hurting the people around her. To make her stress even inferior, her mother, Alma, regularly negatively criticized Pepa for her emotional outbursts and hardly supported her, making her feel she couldn’t express her feelings freely.
