About Whirlpool Duet Washer Error Codes
Whirlpool Duet Washer Error Codes – Whirlpool Duet washers are some of the best washing machines on the market. Whirlpool is a household brand in the home, and while not every appliance you own may be a Whirlpool, you can trust you are getting a pretty good machine when it is of that brand. But that doesn’t mean they are immune to breaking down occasionally.
When they break down, the inbuilt diagnostic system automatically determines what’s wrong with the appliance and displays an error code. Yet, over time, any machine will wear down and manifest malfunctions. If you are lucky, the best-case scenario is that your Whirlpool Duet washer throws out an error code. It may not tell you precisely what is wrong, but it will point you to the general area of the problem so you can get it fixed quickly.
Important Note You Should Know About Whirlpool Duet Washer Error Codes
- The most excellent feature of the Whirlpool Duet washer is that it can view past error codes once they have cleared. It means if multiple codes come up, you could also check them.
- To do this, you must first enter your washer into diagnostic mode. It completes by pressing three buttons to start, power, or cancel. It will help if you click those buttons one after the other nine times within eight seconds. If done fast enough, “888” will flash on the screen.
- Using the first and third buttons you pressed, you can browse the error codes thrown out from the last ten cycles. Write them down so you can look them up to see what has happened.
Whirlpool Duet Washer Error Codes
Now that you know how to find the error codes on your washer, you need to familiarize yourself with what they mean. Some error codes are more specific than others, but all will point you in the correct direction.
1. SUDS Error
If your washer is throwing out this error, you likely don’t need it. You can probably see the suds inside the drum. These are difficult to drain, but running a load of white vinegar can fix it. You will want to ensure you are using the correct detergent for your washer and not too much of it. Outside, it may indicate a drain pump or pressure switch problem.
2. FoE1 Error
It is likely due to pressing the wrong button. It shows detecting items inside the washer on a clean washer cycle.
3. F1E1 Whirlpool Duet Washer Error Codes
It is a leading control error. Typically, it means that the main control board is throwing out faults. You can try unplugging the washer and waiting for it to reset, but the error code will likely return if there is a problem.
4. F1E2 Error
It is displayed when you have tried to reset the control board several times, and nothing has happened.
5. F2E3 Error
You do not see this error much; it comes up when there is an error in the wash cycle selection via a connection to the control board. And it is not a malfunction that happens often.
6. F3E1 Error
This code means there is an error with the pressure switch. You will want to check it for blockages before moving to a replacement, as that can happen often.
7. F3E2 Error
When the washer’s temperature is above or below the optimal range for the cycle, it will display this error. It means there is a problem with the temperature sensor. You will want to make sure it is still plugged in and still functioning by testing it with a multimeter.
8. F5E1 Whirlpool Duet Washer Error Codes
This error code comes when there is a problem with the door switch. It could be that the door switch has gone wrong, or you are trying to start a cycle with the washer door open. You can also see this if you have run three cycles without opening the door.
9. F5E2 Error
This error code indicates a door lock fault. To fix this error, check the tab on the washing machine door that goes into the door lock to ensure it’s not defective. If it is, replace it; otherwise, check the door lock with a multimeter.
10. F5E3 Error
This code means the washer door is unable to unlock. Check that the lock tab on the washer door isn’t defective. If the tab is okay, with a multimeter, check the door lock repeatedly.
11. F6E2 Whirlpool Duet Washer Error Codes
If there is a problem with communication between the control board and the motor control, you will get this error. Typically, you must check the wire connections, which could mean either party is going faulty on you.
12. F7E2 Error
It specifies that there is a fault in the motor. You will want to make sure that the drum turns freely. If it does, the issue may be with the motor control board.
13. Whirlpool error code: F8E0
This code indicates a problem with the steam valve (this code only applies to steam washer models). To solve the issue, ensure water can enter the steam valve. If water cannot reach the valve, check for blockages and remove them.
14. F8E1 Error
This error means the washer is sensing a low flow of water. To solve it, first check that the following:
- The household water supply is open, and the cold and hot water outlets or valves are fully available.
- The water inlet tubes are not kinked.
- There are no controls and anti-flood hoses in the water line attached to the washer (learn more about whether I should use Flood Safe Devices on my washer.
To solve the code, click the Pause or Cancel buttons twice and the Power button once.
15. F8 E2 Whirlpool Duet Washer Error Codes
This error indicates that the dispenser motor is not working. As such, there will be no detergent for your wash cycle.
16. F8E3 Error
If you see this code, your washer was very close to overfilling, and it essentially just saved you a big old mess by shutting off the function. It could be many issues, including the pressure sensor, drain pump, water fill valve, and even the control board problems.
17. F8E4 Error
This error code indicates a flow meter fault, meaning the meter cannot detect whether water is coming into the washer. To fix this, ensure the water supply is turned on, and the water hoses aren’t blocked. If the flow meter isn’t working correctly, replace it.
18. F9E1 Error
It is the most displayed error code, meaning it took too long for the washer to drain during the cycle. It usually means you have a clog somewhere, but it can also mean the drain pump has gone out if you still have standing water.
19. LOC or LC
This error means the control lock activation; to solve it, touch the Control Lock button or (on older models) determine which button activates the control lock from your Owner’s Manual. For some models, you should press and hold the button.
It means the cycle was paused or canceled. This whirlpool washer may take 20 to 30 minutes to stopover spinning and drain, displaying this error code through that time. To remove the code, press the cancel or pause switch twice and the power switch once. If the code is still visible, unplug the washer or remove the power for one minute.
Hence, error codes reported by consumer electronics help diagnose and repair technical problems. An error code interconnects with relevant support staff to identify potential fixes or simplify research into an error’s cause.
