Ad-Supported Netflix Plans To Increase Revenue
Executives have previously hailed the new ad-supported plan and referred to it as a significant revenue driver.
On the company’s first-quarter results call in April, CFO Spencer Adam Neumann stated regarding plan revenue, “In the US, it’s actually above our standard plan.”

There are also Netflix’s basic and premium plans, which are more expensive at $15.49 and $19.99 per month. However, they run without advertisements, permit users to download content, and share their accounts with one or two individuals outside their homes. Up to four devices can view Ultra HD content on the Premium plan, and up to six can download it.
Netflix is the newest significant entertainment business to add advertising to its streaming service to boost sales and profits. The company pushed down on household account sharing earlier this year after observing slow subscriber growth and attributing it partly to customers sharing their login details with relatives and other families.
Former Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said last year that the company had been slow to adopt advertising to counter competition from major digital firms. While Disney (DIS) has been aggressively creating one for the Disney+ streaming platform, cheaper ad-supported solutions are already available on other streaming services like HBO Max, Hulu, Peacock, and Paramount+.
Following the news on Wednesday, Netflix share prices were almost unchanged. Over 60% more have been added so far this year.
